Montreal turntablist A-Trak (aka Alain Macklovitch) holds the distinction of having been the first Canadian to ever win the DMCs World DJ Championship — and the youngest, given that he was only 15 at the time. That was way back in 1997, and his career since has certainly lived up to that auspicious start. When not doing his own thing (which includes running the record label Fool’s Gold that he co-founded with Nick Catchdubs), A-Trak is rap superstar Kanye West’s tour DJ of choice. His long list of remix clients includes not only West but also fellow Lollapalooza ’09 performers Simian Mobile Disco, MSTRKRFT and Boys Noize.
