MGMT and Yeasayer have given Brooklyn-by-way-of-Colorado’s Chairlift their stamps of approval. Apple featured their song, “Bruises,” in last year’s colorful new Nano commercial. And Spin magazine called their debut, Does You Inspire You, “startlingly impressive.” So there’s no question that this trio, including Caroline Polachek, Aaron Pfenning and Patrick Wimberly, has got a winning formula with their experimental art-pop music full of breathy vocals, tongue-and-cheek lyrics, atmospheric instrumentals and upbeat rhythms.
