London’s Ben Esser — who just goes by his last name professionally — is a master of computer gizmos who draws from his musical upbringing and years of lady troubles to produce savvy electronic songs. As a songwriter, Esser creates lyrically witty and well-produced music that has won the attention of many of the industry’s hit-makers. His self-produced first album caught the ears of the Kaiser Chiefs, securing him an opening slot for the band’s sold-out arena tour. He’s also been enlisted to do production on Cee-Lo’s upcoming solo record. Esser’s debut album, this year’s Braveface, is a collection of catchy pop tunes that will keep you dancing, even through songs like “Stop Dancing.”
