Scotland’s experimental indie-rock foursome, Glasvegas — a combination of Glasgow and Las Vegas — makes music that incorporates a dense wall-of-sound style that draws inspiration from doo-wop and pop rock from the ’50s and ’60s. James Allan leads the group with his thick Scottish accent and echoing croon, joined by his cousin and guitarist, Rab Allan, bassist Paul Donoghue and drummer Caroline McKay. Word seems to have gotten out about Glasvegas: NME called their self-titled full-length, released last September, “the album of the year, an awesome record of breathtaking depth and beauty.” Their live shows gain equal respect as the band is quickly outgrowing the small clubs it’s been used to. All proving that what happens at a Glasvegas show, clearly doesn’t stay at a Glasvegas show.
