In 2005, when Chicago-born DJ/producer/songwriter Kaskade (aka Ryan Raddon) released House of Om, he described the mix CD as “upfront club music with strong melodies and interesting textures.” As the saying goes, it’s not bragging if you can back it up, and Kaskade has delivered the goods consistently for more than a decade. In addition to his DJ skills, he’s distinguished himself as one of house music’s most intriguing composers on his own “artist” albums: 2003’s It’s You, It’s Me, 2004’s In the Moment, 2006’s Love Mysterious, 2008’s Strobelight Seduction and this year’s The Grand. He’s also proved to have quite a track record on the charts, as demonstrated by the success of singles like “Steppin’ Out,” “Everything” and “Move for Me” (his collaboration with Deadmau5 that topped Billboard’s Hot Dance Airplay Chart last year). Naturally, he’s got a golden touch when it comes to remixing other artists’ hits, too; songs by Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, the Pussycat Dolls and Seal have all been remixed by Kaskade with thrilling results.
